The Cello Guys – Frequently asked questions

There’s no such thing as a stupid question!  We’d love to be a part of your special day, so let’s make it happen.

Do we need to provide a piano?

No, we can provide an electric piano and PA appropriate to the setting.  We can also bring in our white piano shell for the illusion of a real concert grand in your venue.  On the other hand, if your venue has a well-tuned piano, we’re happy to use that.

Do you play at weddings?

Yes, yes, yes!  Its a great honour to be a part of someone’s very special day.  Between us we’ve performed at countless weddings, not just as The Cello Guys, but also in numerous String Quartets and Trios and with the Adelaide String Duo.

Do you play outdoors?

Unfortunately we no longer take bookings for outdoor events except where there is highly reliable shelter such as a large solid gazebo or catering-grade marquee.

Do you take requests?

The Cello Guys are happy to prepare an arrangement of your special song, given sufficient notice.  Take a look at our current song-list for some ideas.  We generally ask at least 4 weeks notice for the preparation of new musical arrangements.  Remember that all Cello Guys arrangements are unique and require time for conception, preparation and rehearsal.

Do you do dance music?

We play a wide range of dance music and piano-bar style music in the guise of Two Hearts Duo – we also DJ!

Where can we hear you play?

The Cello Guys primarily perform at private functions.  If you’d like to hear us live before considering a booking, please be in touch and we can organise a home visit.  Your place or ours!

Do you play classical, or just popular tunes?

We do include a few classical tunes in our repertoire, including the ridiculously popular Pachelbel’s Canon in D.  You can see our full repertoire list here.  The list expands every day.  If you’d like something more classical for your function, please consider our Cello and Violin duo, the Adelaide String Duo.

Do you perform music for funerals?

Yes, we would be honoured to be part of your family’s celebration of life event with any one of our combinations.  Please ask us about preparing your loved one’s favourite song or classical piece for the service.
