THE CELLO GUYS

Contemporary Cello & Piano Duo
adelaide wedding music

If you’d like us to play at your wedding in Adelaide but you’re not sure of the next steps, this page is for you.

Generally when we play at a wedding we play special pieces at the following important moments.  We’ve included suggestions of some popular pieces from our repertoire for each occasion:

1. Walking down the aisle – we want to create a feeling of occasion and beauty.

  • Pachelbel Canon in D
  • A Thousand Years
  • Can’t Help Falling in Love
  • Wagner’s Bridal Chorus (“here comes the bride”)
  • All of Me (John Legend)
  • Your “special song”

2. Signing of the register – we usually prepare two pieces of music for this moment as it can sometimes take a while!

  • Any of the pieces from “walking down the aisle” (except the Wagner Bridal Chorus)
  • Bach Air on the G String
  • Make You Feel My Love (by Bob Dylan, but made most famous by Adele)
  • Amazing Grace
  • Eternal Flame
  • Moon River
  • Ave Maria

3. Recessional – for a church wedding this is the piece that the couple walk out to.   In less formal weddings it is the piece we play when the couple has been officially announced as married, generally right after the signing of the register.  We like to play some bright music at this most celebratory moment.

  • I’m Yours
  • Happy Together
  • Can’t Help Falling in Love (faster version)
  • Here Comes the Sun

4. Before and after the ceremony –  We can play appropriate music from our song list while your guests are arriving and after the ceremony during drinks service.

How will the music fit the moment?
Millions of brides have walked down the aisle to the famous Pachelbel Canon in D, although I’m sure almost none of these ceremonies have included the whole piece, as its about 6 minutes long!  We’ll create a tastefully shortened version of your songs to fit the timing of the ceremony.

Do we need amplification?
The Cello Guys generally need amplification unless you are getting married in a small venue with its own grand piano.  We’ll bring the amplification equipment, but its important that we have access to a power source.  If this is impossible you may consider our acoustic violin and cello duo Adelaide String Duo.
